How are your bones today?
8.9.2016
One out of three women over 50 will experience osteoporotic fractures in their remaining lifetime. Osteoporosis is a common disease, however, it often remains unnoticed till a fracture occurs. If reduced bone density is detected early enough it can be affected through diet, life style, and medication if necessary. The problem is that bone health screening is not yet a common practice today!
I happened to meet the Finnish health technology company Oscare Medical and I had the opportunity to check my bones. My Oscare T-Score is 0.5 meaning that I have a low risk for osteoporosis – compared to those my age and gender I am above the average. Now I can sleep my nights well knowing that my bones are doing fine.
The OsCare Sono® bone sonometer is an ultrasound device designed for osteoporosis and osteopenia screening. It has been on the EU market since 2015. The device is small and portable and it doesn’t produce any ionizing radiation. The measurement is painless and taken on the radius in a few minutes. The Finnish technology is available also in Italy in the pharmacy channel.
