After a successful Food from Finland participation at the Salone del Gusto Terra Madre in Turin last September Finnish food products are finding new channels to the Italian market. An Italian food distribution company D&P Wine opened a new Gourmet shop Gatto in Milan in the end of September. ”Our philosophy is to give our clients premium quality products with short delivery chain directly from the producers”, explains Pasquale Gatto, the owner of the company. They wanted to have something exotic and different to attract clients and the Finnish arctic specialties and natural forest products catched their attention. Now Gourmet Shop Gatto is preparing a Nordic Corner with a selection of Finnish authentic products with help of Finnica Consulting. There is also planning going on with the famous Chef Jarmo Pitkanen from Tundra in Kuusamo to organize some common activities. The first product has already arrived to the Nordic Corner: rose petal confiture! Other jams from the clean Finnish forest are on their way: lingonberry, bilberry and the unique cloudberry. The official opening event will be planned for the beginning of next year, but before Christmas we will have a taste of what is coming at the Aperitivo event Anteprima Nordic Corner on December the 6th <link to the event>. In addition to an aperitivo menu combined with an accurate wine selection by the Sommelier Zerilli, there will be an opportunity to build customized gift baskets also with the Finnish products available. Some gossips tell that there will be real Finnish glögi and maybe some Finnish style rye bread!
